TAI TAPU SCHOOL.
The distribution of prizes took place on Friday. The prize fund had been supplimented by a donation of one guinea from the Chairman of the School Committee, which enabled the Committee to purchase a handsome assortment of bookn. Major Edmundson presided, and before presenting the children who had passed the standards with their prizes read the Inspector's report, whlca was very complimentary to the teachers and scholars. The following special prizes were awarded:—For regular attendance and distance from school, Thomas Greig; regular attendance (Mr J. J. Herrlck's prize), Margaret Grabau, M, S. Carleton, and David Griffiths, neither having missed one half day during the year; most popular girl (Mr Barber's prize), Florence Berrlck ; most popular boy (Mr Barber's prize), Andrew Doyle. After the distribution of the prizes Mr J. W. Millar, in order to encourage regular attendance, promised to give a prize In money of 10s to the boys, and Mr H. E. Perytnan a like amount to the girls, some allowance to be made for slckneaa, Sec. Votes of thanks were passed and cheers were given for teachers, Chairman, Committee, Mr Jas. White, and Mrs Carleton.
