DUNEDIN NOTES.
December 13. Tapper and Co.'s business has just been acquired by Walter Guthrie and Co. There was a great gathering at the breakup of the Boys' High School, and the heartiness with which Dr. Stuart was greeted, alike by the pupils and their friends, bespoke the warmth of the sympathy felt by ail classes in the community * for tho venerable Nestor of our educational institutions. Mr Alex. Burt, who presided, paid a high compliment to the excellence of the instruction given in the Christchurch School of Engineering, and warmly praised the liberality of the Governing Body of Lincoln College in admitting scholarship holders to that institution. He strongly urged those who thought of going upon the land to enter that College immediately after fiuishing the primary school course. The two boys who tied for the dux gold medal are both scholarship holders.
