STRONG RESOLUTIONS AGAINST THE GOVERNMENT. Press Association.—By Telegraph— Stdnet, December 13. After a turbuieut meeting a resolution was passed - calling on Parliament to vindicate its pow_r of asceifiancy by a prompt and sweeping condemnation of the unlawful aud desperate proceediugs of the Dibbs Government. Mr G. H. Reid, leader of the Opposition, who waa the principal speaker, characterised the Ministry aa a nest of political tricksters, who- had prostituted the provisions of an Act of Parliament to rob the people of ■ their rights. > Another resolution characterising the action of Sir G. R. Dibbs as a blessing, because it prevented'the passage of the Rank Note Issue Bill was proposed and declared by the Chairman to be carried. Mr Slattery, one of the Ministers of the Crown, held a retainer in the case against the Public Works Department, but had withdrawn froi*% it on the result of the decision against Mr Barton being annouuced.
