RICCARTON.

The polling in this district was conducted in a' brisk manner, and it was apparent from the first that the friends of both candidates had made good provision for the conveyance of their supporters to ths eleven polling places within the electorate, this being especially the case in the interests of Mr Boag, whose friends provided all classes of vehicles. The: contest was conducted with the greatest goodwill, and even at the conclusion of the proceedings, when Mr B. S. Leversedge, the Returning Officer, proclaimed the result from the side door of the Town Hall, there was not a sign of rowdyism of any kind, and no annoyance was caused to anyone present. As will be seen by-reference to the following table of detailed returns, Mr Boag headed the poll at" all the farming centres, but he met with- only meagre support *at those oentres where the wage darning classes predominated.
