THE NURSES' HOME.

The public of Chriatchurch are to be congratulated on the passing of the Christchurch Hospital Amendment Act, which enables the authorities to erect a nurses' home on a site favoured by the majority of the members of the Hospital Board. An examination of the two sites proposed should satisfy all interested that the one we refer to is by far the beet. It is in a pleasant position with agreeable surroundings, and is away from the noise and dust which would prove so objectionable were the fkst selected site adopted. The objection taken to it by some of the Councillors must, we think, be founded on a misapprehension. There is no difficulty about drainage. The ground is dry, whilst; the creek running past is perfectly clean and sweet. The other position at the corner has nothing whatever to recommend it. It commands an ample view of all the back premises of the hospital. It is close to the road, over which tueie is constant traffic. It would therefore be noisy and dusty, two great disadvantages in the caae of nurses whomuet, in turn, sleep during the day. The site, in fact, is about as unattractive as could possibly be conceived. We hope, therefore, now that the Legislature has granted another site, that no further difficulty will stand in the way of the speedy erection of the much needed Nurses , Home. Subscribers to the fund have only to visit the two sites and examine them for themselves to be satisfied that the Board have acted wisely in seeking the sanction of Parliament to the site in the Hospital grounds.
