LAND BOARD.
An ordinary meeting of the Canterbury Land Board was held on Thursday, whao there were present — Messrs J- W. A. Marchant (Chief Commissioner), D. McMillan 'and A. C. Pringle. The following was among the business transacted:—Lot 897, Arowhenua village settlement, 2a Ir 6p, waa granted to H. Monaghan, and lot 895, 2a, to Phillips, on lease in perpetuity; R.b. 00001, Burke Survey district, 43a, was granted to Robert Rutherford by land order under the Forest Trees Planting Encouragement Act, 1872, and the executors cf the late Michael Stadholme were granted 62a or 4p of unsurveyed lands in the Mahao survey district under the same Act. J. R. P. H. Jones was granted R.S. 36397, 24 acres, Shepherd's Bush survey district, by permission, certificate under the Naval and Military Settlers' and Volunteers' Land Act, 1892. Several applications for freehold title* and transfers of lease, &c were dealt with. It was decided to draw the attention of the Government to the necessity for having power to deal with the low lying Lake Elleemere lands' for grazing leases. After dealing with a large amount of routine business, the Board adjourned.
