The Bank of England returns publisned to-day show the total reserves in notes and bullion to be £16,552,000, the proportion o! reserve to liabilities being 51.30.

New South Wales four per cent, inscribed stock, 105; three halves, 92J. Victorian four per cent, inscribed stock, 100 ; three halves, 88. South Australian four per cent, do, 104; three halves, 93 \. Queensland four per cent, do, 100 ; three halves, 87. New Zealand do, 105£; three halves 95. Tasmanian three halves 88£. Western Australian four per cent-, 104.

Three months' bills are discounted at 3 per cent.

New Zealand long-berried wheat, ex warehouse, 28s, firm; South Australian wheat, ex warehouse, 29a, firm; Victorian do, 20s, firm.

Mutton, first quality, 3£d; second quality, 3£dj lamb, first quality, 3£d. Holders of kauri gum are firm, and only a quarter of the quantity offered was sold. Pale hard, scraped, £8 5s ; three-quarters scraped, £4 3a; good pickings, £2 2s 6d.

Hemp is in better demand. Wellington, fair quality, £19 2s 6d.

Eight thousand quarters of Australian wheat have been sold at 29a 6d. Danish butter, 1325.

A recent shipment of hay was sold in London ab £± 17a per ton, and the coat) of landing the staff in London, exclusive of brokerage, was £8 per ton.

The New Zealand Land Association, Limited, has received the following London cable message, dated Bth September:—

frozen Meat.—Mutton market dull. Lamb, market depressed. Price of mutton and lamb has declined £d per lb since last report.

Tallow.—There is & batter demand for mutton tallow, but other descriptions are unchanged. Fine mutton tallow is worth 28s 6d per cwt. Good beef tallow is worth 27s 3d per cwt.

New Zealand Hemp.—Supplies are meagre. Market inactive. Medium is worth £19 5a per ton.
