NEW MEAT PRESERVATIVE.
SYDNEY, September 1. : At Albury on Saturday eight a large gathering assembled at the Globe Hotel, when a dinner was given to test a aew pro-
cess of preserving meat. Six week* ago a sheep was killed and locked up in a room by & Committee, who examined the carcase at intervals. The meat was dressed in various ways and it proved excellent. Among the guests present were medical men, pastoralists, bankers, stock agents, and other prominent residents, and all of «-***- spoko in high praise of the results. Mr T. Affreck, the proprietor of the Border Pott, who is taking a leading part in the movement, stated that the promoters hope to be able to ship meat without freezing by the new process, it baa beeo decided to carry out further experiments with a bullock, Mr B. King, of H&wke's Yiow, promising to give a fat beast for the purpose. The par* ticulars of the process were not disclosed, except the fact that they include a sixteen hours' fumigation of the carcase.
