WHERE TO HERD YOUR CATTLE.

TO THE EDITOR OF THE PRESS. | Sir, —The places where people are allowed to herd cattle indiscriminately are happily few, and it is only fair that where a privilege of this sort seems to exist ad libitum that people generally should know all about it. The neighbourhood of Dallington is a veritable "happy hunting ground " in this respect. On each side of the river cattle and horses graze in peaceful disregard of anything to stop them ; and if the residents find their fences torn and hedges cropped short, or the luckless foot passenger at night finds himself begiimed with mire, or the vehicle driver finds himself almost in the river by coming suddenly upon a he-goat, tethered, and on hind legs erect—what matters ? The law winks at it, or proclaims by the obvious invisibility of its representative that such things - are winked at. In this contingency I think a fair show should be given to all, and beg respectfully to point out to the cattleburdened public a grand place to feed on.— 1 am, Ac, Vox. September 6th, 1893.
