WELLINGTON NOTES.
August 9.
A movement has been on foot for some short time to establish a cottage home for girls. The proposal is to found the home en the same plan as in England, to be Worked on what is known as the " family plan." The Girls' Friendly Societies ore the prime movers in the matter, and Lady Glasgow has promised her patronage. There is every probability, from the manner in which the movement is being taken up, that it will be tbe success it deserves to be.
In its leading columns the Press states that after careful enquiry it learns that there are breakers ahead for female franchise in the Legislative Council, and that the Council will only pass it on condition that it does not come into operation until after the general election.
