SCHOOL COMMITTEES.

A meeting of the Richmond Committee was held on Thursday evening. Present— Messrs Armitage, Barlow, Bell, Mander, Sorensen, Snowball, Shaw, and Abercrombie. An apology was received from Mr Hughes. The master's report stated that the attendance was falliDg very rapidly owing to the prevalence of measles in the district It was agreed to close the school for a fortnight, and to have a special meeting on Friday to decide on the prizes. The Board notified the appointment of Mr A. Gray, assistant master. The Committee agreed with the suggestion, and agreed to make arrangements for celebrating Arbor Day, and to ask the teachers to arrange for the scholars to plant trees on that day. The Board of Education forwarded their annual report, in which the Richmond school was classed as one of the best in, the North Canterbury district.
