Barr, the navigating lieutenant of the Camperdown, deposed that though tbe Admiral, Captain Johnstone and himself were confident the evolution was impossible, Admiral Markham remarked "We have got to do it; Tryon means it. w at the same time piping the men to the collision stations. Had the Camperdown used her screws and helm aod screws from the beginning she could easily have turned in less than 600 yards, but that would not have been performing tbe evolution. When the ships were end on and turning towards each other, the collision could have been averted if the Victoria or Camperdown had reversed their helms. July 22.
In his evidence at the court-martial to-day Dr. Herbert M. Ellis, Fleet Surgeon, in describing the condition of Admiral Tryon, deposed he had a small running ulcer on his leg, otherwise he was well and nob affected by the heat.
