GERALDINE COURTY COUNCIL.
At the meeting of the Geraldine County Council, yesterday, the Chairman said that the men distributing poisoned groin were doing effective work among the small birds. Mr Balfour gave notice to move at next meeting—"That tho Levels be represented by three members at the next election," The report on bridges showed that the repairs at Opihl were going on satisfactorily. With respect to the diversion of the Te-Ngawai, near Pleasant Point, the Engineers submitted plans, but tenders were not opened pending the result of a legal difficulty. A settler objects to the Council going on with the work as likely to endanger his Utnd. He also objected to some of his land being taken, but the Council resolved to take it under the Public Works Act. Messrs A. M. Clark, A. Austin, P. Waring, and others waited on the Council to urge the erection of a light traffic bridge over the Orari River at Rolleatou crossing. The Engineer is to prepare plans.
