Owing to tho recent failures the Assets Company cabled to the colony on May 6th to postpone the October tesue, although fully underwritten. CASE DISMISSED. RABBIT EVAPORATOR. Hr Wilson, the produce expert from Victoria, has inspected the fresh air rabbit evaporation process, whioh will dry 3000 rabbits per day. The rabbits may then be packed ready for export as ordinary cargo, and will keep fresh for six months. NAVAL DEMONSTRATION. July 12. TESTS OF AUSTRALIAN WOOD. At the instance of the War Office, the authorities at Kew Gardens will experiment upon the suitability of Australian woods for gun stocks. A WEDDING HONOUR. The Lord Mayor, Alderman Knlll, has been made a Baronet in honour of the Royal wedding. ENGLISH, SCOTTISH AND AUSTRALIAN BANK. The appellants against the scheme of reconstruction of the English, Scottish and Australian B_ok objected to the proposals generally, aud also specially on the ground that the statutory majority had beeu obtained by coercion exercised by the holders of Australian proxies, and that nothing had been brought forward to justify the scheme. The hearing of the case was adjourned. TASMANIAN TREASURY BILLS. The Tasmanian Treasury Bills have been withdrawn for the present. Virtually, none of them have been placed. DROUGHT IN AUSTRIA.
