CANTERBURY TROTTING CLUB.

Delightful weather favoured the Canterbury Trotting Club for Its winter meeting, held on Saturday, and the attendance was quite up to the average. Although there was a meagre acceptance, there were very few withdrawals from those figuring on the card, and fair fields faced the starter on each occasion. The sport was of an Interesting character, and in the three mile event General Tracey put op a fine performance, having his opponents all beaten before a third of the journey had been covered. Butcher Boy 11., after winning the Addington Plate, was immediately again pulled out for the Selling Race, which he also secured, and being submitted to auction was purchased by Mr D. O'Brien for £21. The best dividend of the day was paid when The Whale got home after an exciting finish with Spreydon Lad in the Final Handicap, bis backers receiving over £12 for their £1 investments. The sum of £2006 was Eas«ed through the totalisators, there eing three on the ground. It should be mentioned, thanks to the assiduous care of Mr R. Wick 3, the running track was in really splendid order. The following are details :—

When a mile had been gone Ooossum broke, and Maid of Ulster went on in front of Westleigh, who however, soon overhauled tho leader.
