The Sydenham Wesleyan Mutual Improvement Association held its fortnightly meeting in the Wesleyan schoolroom on Wednesday evening, the Rev. J. N. Buttle (President) in the chair. The following members contributed to the programme:— Readings, Messrs G. H. Hocking, W. A. Hall, and W. Thomas; recitation, Mr H. Foston. On the Question Box being opened, several important questions were answered. Six members wers elected and seven nominated for membership. Tbe Debating Class in connection with the Cash Amateur Bicycling Club opened last evening, Mr G. Rowe in the chair. The subject was, "Is the Mayor's scheme practicable at the present time." This subject was ably handled by the speakers—Messrs W. E. Thompson in the affirmative and C. H. Cotton in the negative. After a brisk discussion, the Chairman put it to the vote, the majority favouring the scheme.
