POLITICAL NOTES.
(PBBSS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAMS.) WESTPORT, May 11. Mr O'Regan, the candidate for the Inangahua seat, addressed a meeting at Addison's Flat last evening, and was well received. His speech was mainly a repetition of lm Cape Foul wind address. He expressed a strong objection to tho manner of Sir R. Stout's candidature, aud received a vote of confidence. Mr R. J. H. Reeves, ex-M.H.R., addressed the Charleston electors last evening in favour of Sir R. Stout. Several others followed in the same strain, and a motion was carried unanimously expressing confidence in Sir R. Stout aud sympathy with Mr Reevee. ; Mr O'Regan speaks at Charleston this evening, and Mr Reeves left for Reeffcon to-day. WANGANUI. May 11. A large representative and influential meeting of the Opposition party was held to-night to decide on a candidate for the coming bye-election. It was decided unanimously to nominate Mr Gilbert Carson.
