MINING NEWS.
(PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) DUNEDIN, May 11. The Star's correspondent reports the discovery of a new goldfield at the extreme northern end of the Vincent County. The locals is locally known as Timaru Creek. The ground is alluvial, and gold has been traced for twenty-six miles up the creek. M. Leon Perrett, Engineer of Mines to the Russian Government, who recently visited the colony, was so struck with the development of river dredging for gold that he saw in Otago that he requested Cutten Bros., engineers, to design and forward to him at St. Petersburg the plans and specifications of a dredge suitable for working in Siberian rivers.
