ASHBURTON RACING CLUB'S AUTUMN MEETING.

The weather was beautifully fine for the secoud day ot Che above Club's Autumn Meeting, and the attendance was somewhat better than on Wednesday. The racing was again very Interesting and on two occasions dead heats resulted. The majority of backers selectedErui-go-Bragh for the Hurdle Race and the selection proved correct, for Magpie, when in tbe van and going well witbiu himself, fell at the stcond last fence —the same fence that brought him to grief in the same Hurdle Kace last seasuu — aud the old grey thereafter had no difficulty in goiiig away from his other oypoucut. Vogengang was made favourite for the Grand btaud Handicap, and justified the confidence reposed iv him, for he wou somewhat comfortably in the end. Brown on Aquarius tuok matters a little too easy iv the Wakauui Handicap, allowing the more fancied Frivolity to get up iv the last few strides, the pair passing the post locked together, the judge being unable to separate them. En ing ton, although he passed the post some little distance ahead of Rosehill iv the Nursery Handicap, was all out, but Langley's victory in the Disposal Stakes was very easily achieved. An equally easy win was that of Awarua Hose in the Welter Handicap. The secoud dead heat of the day was iv the concluding event, Eirington's elder brother, Warriugton, eventually placing the stake to his credit. The sum of £l7l>B was passed through the totalisator for the day, making a total of £3041 for the meeting, or £442 less than put through at last Autumn meeting.
