FIRES.
(PBSSd ASSOCIATION TELEGRAMS) WELLINGTON, May 11. At Grey town North this morning Mr Maxton's general store, with dwelling-house and bakery, were destroyed by fire. The insurances amount to £1200. The origin of the outbreak is unknown. INVERCARGILL, May 11. The tallow worka at tho Bouthland Frozea Meat Company's works at Wallacetown crossing were destroyed at one o'clock this morning. The damage is estimated at about £1600, and tho insurances amount to £1200, in the New Zealand office, of which £850 ie reinsured. By the strenuous efforts of the employees the main works were saved.
