The barque Lurline, well known iu Lyttelton, in charge of Captain Laws, arrived from Rio de Janeiro yesterday afternoon, after a passage of exactly two months. Siie was cleared by the Health Officer, Dr. Guthrie, and brought up into the stream, where she anchored for the night. Sue comes in ballast, under charter to Messrs G. G. Stead aud P. Cunningham aud Co. Tiie south-west breeze blowing yesterday afternoon brought up two barques from the South. The rirst was the Lurline, which was brought up iuto the stream by the tug; the other had not made her numbers by nightfall, but was evideutly a light vessel, ami was supposed to be from Santos. The steamer Hauioto completed her loading yesterday and sailed in the evening for Sydney via Wellington. Tlie s.s. Jauet Nicoll sailed for Greymouth direct yesterday afternoon. Our Timaru correspondent telegraphed last night:—The large cargo steamer Rangatira leaves at midnight for Lyttelton. She has taken in here 20,000 carcases muttou and lamb, besides wool, &c.
