GRAIN SALES.

Messrs H. Matsos ajtd Co. (associated with the National M. and A. Company of New Zealand, Limited) report for the week ending May Bth, 1893:— Wheat—As with oil other lines, business has been checked by a continuation of wet weather that has prevailed some weeks. The aspect of the market is unchanged, and we can only repeat our recent quotations of 23 6d to 2s B£d for milling. Fowls' feed ranges from Is 7d to 2a 2d. Oats—The feeling is, if anything, better at Is lOd to Is lid for milling and Is 7d to Is 9d for feed. Our Sydney advices inform us of a falling off in exports from Victoria and Tasmania to the New South Wales market, which is likely to influence prices. Barley—The local market is somewhat inactive at the present, iv the absence ot prime samples ; a tinner tendency is, however, noticeable iv outside markets. We quote 3s 9d to 4s 3d for good to prime, and 3a 3d to 3a 6d for medium, while feed commands Is 6d to 2s.

Potatoes—The wet weather has delayed digging operations, and this has to come extent strengthened the market, which stands at 35a, at country etations, for Derwents.

Grass seeds are quiet, being off season. Ryegrass is worth 2s 6d to 3s for farmers' samples, and 3s 3d to 3s 9d for machine dressed. Cocksfoot remains very dull at 2J,d to 3d, to 3£d to 3|d for heavy dressed.

Beans—2s lid. We hear of a good number sti 1 out exposed to the weather, which will be seriously damaged. Peas 2s 9d to 3s 3d.

Dairy Produce—Batter 7d to Bd, cheese 3d to <Ud.

Auction S*le — The quantity of grain offered ou Saturday was somewhat limited, owing to farmers being unable to cart. What, lines were offered met with keen competition at the following prices : —Wheat, broken, Is to Is IOd ; barley, Is to 2s, for feed; cornsacks, 3£d; grass seeds were not in demand; oats, Is 7d. Prices, ex store, sacks extra.
