In the import markeb nothing of importance has occurred during the past week, movements in this branch of business having been very circumscribed. . In general goods the prices current during the past mouth still hold, there being at any rate no quotable alterations. Tho wine and spirit trade is reported as healthy and well up to the average. The continuous showery weather has not interfered to any appreciable extent with the business of the city, while it has greatly benefited the country districts. All the retail trades have been fairly active. Grocers complain of the absurdly low values ruling for some items iv their lists, the prices of a siugle pound of several commodities being on a level with importers' figures for large parcels, so keen is the cutting in this important trade. However, as grocers have the power to regulate their own prices and the public is well served with cheap goods, there should be no cause of complaint on this head.
