MAYORAL ELECTIONS.
(HftSSS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAMS.) HAWERA, December 1. In the mayoral election Major Davidson was returned by a majority* of 25, ' WELLINGTON, December I. The Mayoral election to-day caused considerable excitement end was hotly contested, both sides working hard. Some surprise is expressed at the large majority secured by Mr Bell, the general opinion having been that ' the result would be pretty close. The following are the numbers :—H. D. Bell, 1405; George Fisher, M.H.8., 572; majority for Bell 833. In the Supreme Court, to-day, Mr Jellicoe, counsel for the accused, asked if his Honor would fallow the jurymen to record their votes for the Mayoralty. The Chief Justice replied that a jury was never allowed to separate until a case wws finished, and refused the request. OAMAEU, December!. Mr D. Dunn was re-elected Mayor to-day for the fifth time in succession. The Voting was :—Dunn, 194; Sinclair, 111; McDowell, 84. DUNEDIN, December 1. The Mayoral election excited much interest to-day, and a very prominent part was taken in it by women. The results are;— Charles Haynee, 938; H. S. Fish, M.H.R., 753; A. Chapman (present Mayor), 165. - 1 The, following are the results of the auburban Mayoral elections:—North-east Valley, Mr S. Myers; Maori Hill, Mr P. Pilkington; Caversham, Mr J. Hancock; South Dunedin, Mr W. Henderson. : INVERCARGILL, December 1. Cr. Duncan McFarlane was elected Mayor of Invercargill, the voting being—McFarlane 251, Frogatt 193. The latter, it was understood, had the support of the temperance party, but that is generally unreliable here. Mr J. Simpson was elected Mayor of Gore by a majority of 22 over Mr Alfred Dolomore, proprietor of the Ensign,
