FUOM OTJB CORRESFONPENT.J

REEFTON, June 12. The following are the battery returns for the past week:— Cumberland, 1560z of amalgam from 85 tons; Globe, 1650z from 190 tons; Keep-it-Dark, 950z from 82 tons ; No. 2 Dark, 98oz from 72 tonsj Progress, 4070z from 300 tons.

Stock Exchange report:—•" To-day'a battery returns are these from the Globe, Progress, No. 2 Keep-it-Dark, and Cumberland, giving 9190z of amalgam from the top plates. To the dividends previously announced as the result of last months work, has to be added one of a shilling per 32,000 in the United Alpine, representing £1600, payable this week, by which it will be seen that this mine is developing some of the original character which made it conspicuous years ago. Nothing of very extra importance has occurred iv mining this week, and satisfactory results continue in the operative froperties. This week's yield from the 'rogresa is regarded with more than ordinary interest, as proving the new big reef to be of good average quality, and shares should harden.

" The share business has been of the usual order, and fast advances in value and business are still among the items reserved for the near future. Some business was done in Big River, the closing prices being ratherbelow what ruled at the start of the week. Cumberland appear as before, and firm at that. In view of the likelihood of an important change in the lower working before long, Globe have had rather bettor enquiry this week, and show a Blight riße in value. No. 2 Dark sold at slightly over 4s, ex div., and Progress are firm at previous rates. Russell could be placed pretty often, but holders are not on for business at tho buyers'prices. Alpine are steadily firm at an advanced figure, and but few parcels are offering. Business in many other lines at and about the prospecting stage has been limited, and changes in value, of course, small. Recent temporary teat prospecting of the Due North alluvial property, close to Boatmans, go to prove a large deposit of payable wash and easy of access. Drainage ib provided, and among the many mining ventures now, being prosecuted within the district few have better claims for the right kind of enterprise.
