AUCKLAND, May 31; Double-event wagering on,the Grand National Hurdle Race and Great Northern Steeplechase continues to be of a spirited nature. The favourite double is CouranCo aud Courauto, aud the best price obtainable about this combination from the leading pencillers is 15 to 1. Lonely and Couranto is backed afc 20 to 1, but it ia questionable if fchab price can now be obtained. The other quotations are 20 to 1 asjainst Fabulous and Couranto, 2U to 1 against Belmanfc and Couranfco, 30 to 1 agaiat Salute arid Couranto. Yesterday one. penciller laid 60 to 10 on Couranto for the Hurdle Race, but 4 to 1 ia the best price on jthe field. This morning, at Ellerslle, Fabulous Sut iE two rounds on the course proper, [c looks big and welL Fishmonger did slow work. The Takapuna Jockey Club have fined the trainer F. Macminaman £10 for using improper language to the starter, Mr E. Halstead, at their meeting on the Queen's Birthday, ordering tuat until the money be paid Macminaman shall be disqualified.
