THE AKAROA TRADE.
TO THS EDITOR OF TUB PRESS. Sir, —As a constant reader of the " Akaroa Mail," I notice in that of yesterday's date a letter signed " A late Shareholder in the L. and P. S.S. Company' (I think he should have signed himself "of the late Akaroa and Peninsula Company"), advising intending shareholders not to risk their money in buying an " old steamer " to run in opposition to the present Company. I can quite endorse this advice, as I also am one of the unfortunate losers by having shares in the old Company that was running opposition until nearly the whole capital was lost, and of which this is likely to be a repetition. It may suit some of the large shippers to lose the little money they put into a few shares (aud they will take care it is only a little) if they can induce the small farmers to put their money into it also.—Yours, &c,
Another Shareholder.
