The prizes in connection with the East Christchurch main school were presented by Mr M. Murphy, a member of the School Committee, Mr M. Sandfltein, the Chairman, being unavoidably absent. Mr Murphy ibddressed a few kindly words to the children, pointing out the great improvement in the methods of imparting instruction ac compared with olden days.
