A child named Thomas McCubbin, two years old, was drowned in the Waitati yesterday, having evidently fallen into the river, which ia twenty yards from hia parents' house. A fish hawker named George Smith died in the Hospital to-day from injuries sue* tamed by falling out of lm cart on Friday last. He had been in poor health, aud had told his son, who found him on the road* side, that he had become dizzy and fallen out. Death is supposed to have been caused by the bursting of a blood vessel in thl substance of the brain. The weather promises to be fine for tho chow and races, which start to-morrow.
