COLONIES

Vienna, May 23. At the Postal Conference to-day an animated discussion took plaoe ia Committee on the question of the voting power to bo allowed to Australia. It was eventually decided that ahe should have only one vote, but the delegates from each of the separate Australian colonies should be allowed to attend and take part in the discussions. The Chairman intimated that Australia had accepted admission to the Postal Union as from October Ist, the announcement being received with loud cheers.

The subjeot of maritime transit was under consideration to-day, but no alterations were made in any of the existing arrangements.

The Committee's report will come up before the Conference for adoption on Monday.
