BRACKENFIELD HOUNDS.

! Oar Oxford correspondent writes:-« About sixty well mounted gentlemen and a dozen ladies put in an appearance at the meet at Mr Peter Wright's farm at Carlton on Friday last. An excellent luncheon was provided by Mr Wright. Mr Joseph Pearson presided and proposed the health of Mr and Mrs Wright and family, and huntsman, whip, and Secretary of the hunt, which wae drunk with musical honors. Then the word was given to mount, and in a few" minutes the pack were drawing a paddock in beautiful style, the result being two or three baffling runs ending in a call off. Again was heard the welcome sound •♦ Gone away," and the hounds settled on to a very pretty run, and about as stiff a lot of gome and barbed wire as any Nimrod could possibly wish for. This run was accomplished in about twenty minutes, with very few* spills, ending in a kill; your correspondent sharing the honor of being in at the death. The hounds were mustered and again throw* off in beautiful style, and soon anothes find, a thirty minutes' run at least, scent Hot too hot and plenty of music; some of the best riders coming to grief, and mufls mighty cautious. Fuss made for the gone in the river-bed, and so the day's sport ended with a call-off; nevertheless it was a> glorious day; the weather beautifully fine, and the pleasure much enhanced by the presence of the ladies. Tine only gentlemen I noticed from outeide the district were Messrs Chapman, Wilder and Greenwood, who were well mounted. Our local Nirarods need no praise, having already been noticed, except young Richard Parish, who deserves special credit for bringing into the field hie pretty cheatnut colt and riding him so well. He is a real topper at either goree or wire.
