London, May 21. The Marquis -)f Salisbury has been presented with the freedom of the city of Glasgow. Speaking at the ceremony the Premier said the revival of prosperity in Egypt was one of the most wonderful events in the generation, and in referring to the AngloPortuguese Convention regarding the South African territory contended that Portugal had only bean awarded the lowlands, which were suitable to the natives, while England secured the high lands, which were more desirable for European occupation.
