The attention of the Members and the General Public is called to some of the special features connected with this Society, which is the Oldest Colonl* Institution of its kind, haying been established In the year 1810 The results of the business fox the Forty-first Year, ending 31st December, 1889, may be summarised as under :— IXRST—The number of the New Policies issued was 11,664. • .•',• SECOND—The New Assurance Business -effected was for 1,3,679,459. THIRD—The New Annual Premium In* come amounted to L 121,800, FOU.RTH—The net Increase to the business, after allowing for loss of income from terminated policies, was represented by 7028 Policies, aesurrog L 2,109,199. "FIFTH—The operations of the year raised the annual income of the Society from L 1,512,280 to L 1.625,185. an increase In twelve months of id.12,905, - ; : : SIXTH—The Accumulated Fond was increased during the year by the sum of L742,3U, equal to 71 per cent, of the gross premium re ceived. SEVENTH—The deaths among lives assured were 649 under • 735 policies, causing claims upon the Society amounting to 1*299,602, irrespective of Bonus additions, while the number expected according to the Tables used in estimating the liabilities would have been 1143 for an amount 0tL438,976, the mentality experience being thus extremely favorable.
