The sun having dispelled the cold, it was very pleasant out at the course, and the attendance was good, both of local residents and visitors brought by the special train. The arrangements on the ground were very satisfactory. The starting was exceptionally good, and the Stewards were most hospitable and kind to the visitors. Hobbs and Goodwin's totalisator was used upon the ground. The proceedings were very orderly, and spielers were conspicuous by their absence. The following are the details of the racing :— Handicap Hurdle Race of 20 soys; second horse 3 soys from the stake. Two miles, over eight flights of hurdles, about 3ft oin 3L Mr M. Luke's eh g Isidora, by Norseman, 5y.9.9-c7lb .. .. (Thoraw 1 57. Mr _._ Sheehan sb g Tornado, aged, lOst* 101b (Owneri 2 12. Mr B. L. Martin's blk g Black Gin, aged, 9st lib : •• •• (Cleaver) 3 12, Jenny Mount, 9it; and 12, Pilot, 9-k 31b, also ran. The field was sent away on level terms. Pilot, who was leading for a mile, fell, and Isidore, coming along easily, beat Tornado by two lengths, Black Gin ten lengths away. Totalisator, 124 investors ;on winner, 31; dividend, £3 12s. Hack Hurdle Race of 10 soys. For district horses only. Weight not less than lOst 710. For horses that never won a public state, over six flights of hurdles. One mile and a half.

3, Tarantella also ran.
At the start all hung back at a slow canter to the first hurdle, at which The Shrew showed first. Tarantella baulked and put her rider over, never being in the race again. Sou-Wester took the lead, The Shrew racing with her to the back, Mr Knott ten lengths behind, to the half-mile post, when Mr Knott came with a rush, and won by several lengths, The Shrew second. Totalisator investors, 98; on winner, 37; dividend, £2 7s.
Amberley Cup of 25 soys; second horse 5 soys from the stake. One mile and a half. 93. Mr H. Vallancos br g Harkaway, by Chancellor, aged, fs . 61b (Morrigau) 1 20. Mr J?. From a good start, Harkaway took the lead, and was never called on, winning by two lengths from Rangiora, Chester Lad third. The race was simply a procession round the course, with Isidore last. Time, 2min 43|sec. Totalisator —Investors, 189----on winner, 99; dividend, £1 14s.
Maiden Plate of 15 soys; second horse 3 so vs from the stake. Weight for age.

The field got away on good terms, Missile and Lady Grey taking up the running. Coming to the home turn Lady Grey went to the front and won by about two lengths, Mr Knott third. Time, 2min 18sec. Totalisator investors, 141; on winner, 50. Dividend, £2 10s. A protest was lodged on the ground that Lady Grey had run in another name, which was disallowed. Teviotdale Plate Handicap (Open) of 20 soys; second horse 3 soys from the stake. For horses that have nover won over 20 soys 01 public money in one stake. One mile and a distance. 62. Mr F. Busch's b m Adieu, by Chancellor —Farewell, 3 yrs, Bst Blb .. (Derrett) 1 15. Mr P. C. Cunningham's eh g Chester Lad, 3vr3. 7stßlb -(Ray) 2 31. Mr T. Sheehan's mLady.Socaburn, 3 yrs, Bst2lb (Cox) 3

Chester Lad led all the way to the straight, when Adieu came to the front with Lady Sockburn, and a good finish ended in a neck victory for Adieu, Lady Sockburn a length and half behind. Totalisator investors 147, on winner 62, dividend £2 2s.
District Farmers' Hack Race of 10 soys. District ho_aes only that have not entered at this meeting. Weight not less than lOst. Once round the course. Mr H. Vallance'a eh m Drift by Alluvium (Morrigan) 1 Mr McC Hum's eh h Lancelot (Cleaver) 2 Mr B. Martin's Wild Ro.e and Mr G. Coleman's Maria also ran.
Drift had the race in hand all the way. Lancelot was a good Becond. Dividend, £1 9s.
A Consolation Race of 100 soys, second horse to save his stake, once round the course, resulted in an easy victory for Mr Busch's Rangiora, 9st 71b; Mr G. Coleman's Maria, 6st 21b, second. Mrs Mullaney 6st 131b, and Pilot 6st, also ran. Dividend, J21135.
