ASHLEY.
The ordinary meeting of the abopd Board v was held on Wednesday, May 6th. ft-esent —Messrs Millton, Shaw, ami Stewart. Mr Millton was voted to the chair. The Chair* ■ man read a letter from Mr NichoUs account* ing for his absence, and expressing regret at • his inability to bo present at tho annual meeting. The Board unanimously granted leave to Mr Nicholla. It was decided to engage Mr Donald Brock to inepect and report on the concrete bridge on the Chapel road, near Mr Philpott's entrance gate, to be laid before the Board at the next meeting. Notice to be advertised that all dog registrations must be oompleted before the Ist of June. Mr Loffahgan s application for one year's extension of his lease wai granted, dependent on the opinion of tht Board's solicitor. The sidinge into thl Karetu on the main road to be improved at cost of not more than £2. DonaUl Banke to be engaged to repair Carr's road whero most required. The bridge over the Bullock Creek to be repaired. Accounts amounting to £78 4e were passed for payment, and the Board adjourned to allow the annual meet* ing of. ratepayers to be held. i The ratepayers present decided not to ; confirm the minutes of the last annual meet* ■ ing till a future meeting to be held when the i audited accounts would be presented. At the desire of the meeting three of the can* didates for seats on the Board gave their views on local matters. They all expressed themselves in favor of the extension of th» I present traffic bridge.
