DURHAM STREET WESLEYAN CHURCH.

The twenty-sixth anniversary of the Durham street Wesleyan Church was celebrated by a tea and public meeting last evening. The tea, at which 300 persons sat down, was provided by the choir, the bachelors, and ladies of the congregation. At the public meeting there was a large attendance, and the chair was occupied T>y Mr J. Rutland, who has been connected with the church since its foundation stone was laid.

Mγ R. Dawson, in the absence of the Treasurer, read the financial report, which stated that the debt on the church and parsonage had been reduced during the year by £67 10s. The present indebtedness was £1100 on the church, and £450 on the parsonage and caretaker's house. The rearrangement of the choir accommodation and gallery cost about £180, of which £120 had been paid or promised, and It -was hoped the balance mM to wfowritofl (taring tt? prewnf month. The Sunday collections and. mission fund subscriptions were below the previous year, and the trustees urged the congregation to contribute regularly and systematically. The balance-sheet showed that the receipts on the Church trust account had been £421 3s 5d and expenditure i*434 8s 4d, leaving a debit balance of j613 4a lid. On account of the circuit fund £423 8s 3d had been received and disbursed, Church poor fund £35 Bs, Sunday school 460 15s, foreign mission fund .£56 3s lid, horn mission fund £57 12s sd, jubilee thanks giving fund £ 51 7s Id. The total receipt for all purposes had been .£llOs 18s Id, and expenditure JEIII9 3s. Mr Dawson, in the course of his remarks, introduced the two new arrivals, the Revs. L. M. Isitt and R. J. Murray, to the circuit. The Rev. W. Moblet announced that an alteration would be made in the musical portion of the service, and the old chants formerly used would be revived. He urged the members to heartily co-operate in the work of the Church.

Addresses were also given by the Revs. L. M. Isitt, R. Erwin, and W. Baumber, and during the evening the choir rendered a number of excellent selections.
