HOSPITAL BOARD.

An ordinary monthly meeting of the North Canterbury Hospital Board was held at 10.30 a.m. yesterday, when there were present, Messrs W. D. Wood (Chairman), H. Blackett, R. Martindale, R. Westenra, W. Parish, C. M. Gray, W. Prudhoe, W. Langdown, W. Dunlpp, and D. McMillan. Apologies for the absence of Messrs Moor and York were received and accepted. The Chairman said the accounts of the Board had been duly audited, and the Inspector had informed him that they were most satisfactorily kept. The House Committee reported that the by-laws made at the last meeting, held on the 22nd ult., had been printed, and a copy sent to the Colonial Secretary. The contracts entered into for supplying the steam pump and enlarging the laundry had been completed, and prove of great benefit. After a discussion it was decided to deal with the applications from students when they were received. The motion was agreed to, the rules to come in force on May 13th. Mr Prct>eoe gave notice to move at the next meeting—" That a consulting physician and surgeon be appointed-" The Chairman said that the night nurses wished to interview the Board re their hours of work, but as it was pointed out that the new rules only came into force that day, it was decided to refer the matter to the House Committee.
