The following is the Corn Exchange report (per N. P. Meyers, Secretary) for week ending Friday, February 6th, 1891 :— During the week there has been a fair quantity of new grain on offer, but as yet we can report but a limited business. The samples of whaat offering are of fair quality, the winter grain being the best. Buyers are shy to make offers preferring to wait till the rates become more settled. The .New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, report oh the grain and produce market for the week ending 7th February, 1891:--

Wpol—Locally there have been one or two southern sales, which have passed off well, during the week. Cable news from London continues of a satisfactory nature, the most recent .advices quoting a good demand, witb brisk, competition, and a feneral upward tendency for all sorts, 'his is pleasing news, and may be taken as a good omen for our local auctions on 20th inst.; for which wool is arriving freely Into store, and several well-known back-country merino crops will be then, .submitted.

The attendance was not large, but good competition was met with, and values ruled a shade higher than last week for good skins, but inferior, cut, or torn were disposed of with difficulty. Butchers' best crossbred pelts brought Is lOd to 2s 7d, medium, lOd to Is 2d; merino, 9d to Is Od ; Lambskins, Is to 2s 9d, according to size and quality. Dry skins, Is 0d to 5s apiece. Wheat—Market dull and business in old grain is very limited. Few samples of the new crop have yet been offered. We trust the farmers will profit by the experience of former years and not commence threshing operations from atook, or . tooaoon after being stacked. In former Seasons this error of judgment has been a very fruitful source of not only trouble, but serious loss to the farmer and merchant.
