CHRISTCHTURCH PRESBYTERY.

A special meeting of the Christchurch | Presbytery was held at St. Paul's Church , tchoolroom yesterday afternoon. > Present —Revs. P; R- Munro (in the chair), Dr. Elmslle, R. Ecwiu, Gordon Webster, R. McGregor, H. IrWiu (clerk), T.H. Mc-Kenzie;-elders, Messrs C. Youug,-T-.--b. Caverhill, W. Millar, Dr. Murray (_aiapoi session), A. Ritchie, E. C. Parr, .VV. Boag, D Craig. The Ulerk read a letter from the Rev. R. Mc-regor, resigning bis charge of the Kaiapoi Cuurch, aud asking that the Presbytery would deal with Ie at its earliest convenience. .- The Rev. Mr McGregor explained that the necessary intimation had been giveu to the congregation,.aud said-that he regretted having to resign, buc was compelled to do so because of the illness from which he was not yet altogether recovered. He did not wish it to-be understood that be could noc work. He felt fit to undertake a lighter charge in a change of sphere, buc did not care, from fear of results, aud in compliance with tbe advice of Dr. Murray, to coutinue his charge of Kaiapoi. it was agreat break up. He felt it, as also did his congregation, from whom he had received the very greatest kindness indeed. Mr Miller, Mr Caverhlll, Mr Young, and Dr Murray addressed the Presbytery on behalf of the Kaiapoi congregation. Each expressed regret at the Rev. Mr McGregor resigniug, and wished him success in any charge to which he, might be i called. _ _ M . . , The Rev.
