The total quantity of wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 2,048,000 quarters, and for the continent 794,000 quarters, New Zealand Loan and Mercantile 4 per cent, debentures 95. Received February sth, 7.20 p._u Sydnbt, February 5. The following are current quotations for the principal silver mining shares : —Broken Hill Proprietary, £11 17s j British, £3 ss; Central, £4 12s j North, £1; South, £4 15s; Block No. 14, £6 15s; Block No. 10, £14 17s; Junction, £2 3s, Received February sth. 8 p.m. London, February 4, The wool market is buoyaut, and generally 5 per cent, above the December closing rates. Good lambswool is firm j faulty sorts half degree lower. Foreigners are making large purohases. It is reported that the bulk of the gold received from the Bank of France during the recent financial crisis will be returned to-morrow.
The American visible wheat supply is 44,200,000 bushels.
