The beer duty collected daring the past month amounted to .£4840 15s 7d, as follows :— £ 3 d Auckland 1053 18 3 Wellington 429 3 2 Christchurch 931 3 0 Dunedin ... ... 1093 6 4 For December, 1890, the total was £7322 4s Bd, and for January, 1690, £5106 10s. The estimate for the ten months ending January was £45,000, but the amount of duty collected during that period was £47,944 13s 9d, leaving a surplus of £2944 13a 9d.
