FLOWER SHOW.

The annual exhibition in connection with the Courtenay Horticultural Society took place in the Domain. The following were the-officials .—Patron, Sir John Hall; President, Mr T. H. Anson; Vice-Presi-dents, Messrs J. Brabazon, D. McMillan, G. Bedford, F. Adams, and Jas. Goagh ; Committee, Messrs A. McNae, D. Thompson, Thos. Anderton, J. Seaton, - Jas. Brett, G. Grant, J. Anderson, E, McDougal, A. Davies, J. Paterson; Hon. Treasurer, Mr J. Turner; Hon. Sec, Mr G. T. Robertson. Consequent on the amalgamation with the Midland Cycling Club and the Kirwee Athletic Club, the florists were sanguine of success, but their expectations were scarcely realised, several of the former -xhlbu-ors not showing. Nevertheless, the show was a credit to those who supported it. Messrs Crooks and Turner, from Christ* church,-again gave their assistance this -year, judging all the classes. About-an hour before the train left the Committee entertained the Judges in a private room kindly lent by Mrs Bowers of the Kirwee Hotel, when the President, Mr Anson, proposed the health of the Judges and spoke at some length of the kindly way iv which these gentlemen had readily acceded to the Society's requests. Mr Crooks,/in replying, said he and his colleague hoped they would be able to do so for many years to come.
