ELLESMERE.

The. ordinary monthly meeting of the Ellesmere Boad Board was held on Monday, December Ist. Present—Messrs G. C. waby (Chairman), Watson, Lockhead, Bennie, and M. Jones. Correspondence was received—From Mr J. C. Helmore, agent for Captain Brown, re goree on tramway at Dune&ndel. Referred to Overseer to arrange. From Messrs H. Chappell, Higbt, Moor and Boag, petitioning to have road ehtngle from Allen's bridge to Right's corner. The Overseer wae directed to inspect; and report at nexc meeting with & view of making improvements. From Mr F. Maddison, renewing hie application for deepening Hanmer road drain. The Board could not at present entertain the application. The Board decided to let the reserve at the junction of Rakaia and Killinchy roadn to James Woods, sen., for £1 per year, the applicant to keep the reserve clear of gorae at his own expense., Messrs Gittens and Nicholson interviewed the Board complaining that through the water being diverted 18 inches in extent in various places in theßoyieaton drain, they were deprived of a fair share, Mr Luun was directed to examine the locality complained of with a vlow ot giving satisfaction to all parties concerned. Be Nicholson's bridge, It was agreed that Mr Lunn should make the best arrangements with Mr Nicholson in making the bridge passable. Mr liennie moved, and Mr Lochhead seconded— " Tnat aIL rates outstanding be sued for at once." Carried. Tha Board resolved to deepen the Doyleaton drain from the Railway to Harris'; about tea yards to .the chain. It was decided to cancel the contract taken by L, Woodward, at Donsandel, and call for fresh tenders on the 12th inst. The Overseer's report was read and'considered, and the pay-sheet, amounting to £227 18s, was parsed for payment, and the Board adjourned.
