Tbe Spring Meeting of the North Canterbury Jockey Club was held on the ; club a course between Rasigiora and Fernaide yesterday, and opened with plenty of r sunshine, as well as a strong westerly .>wlnd. A half was observed in Rangtora. * On ' the eburse * tbe N arrshgements made were excellent, and punctuality was observed in the discharge of the programme, All tbe official* were in their respective offices. The refreshment department was in the bands of Mr A. Taylor, of the Club Hotel, who gave eminent satisfaction. Messrs Hobbs and Goodwin put the sum of £1386 through totaUsator during the day.. In the Novel, Smith, tbe rider of Loiter, was fined 452 by the starter for disobedience at the post. The following are details of the racing :—

The field went away to a capital start, leidcre taking the lead, and holding the race cheap throughout. Passing the stand the first time Bloodsucker, Isidore, and Lancelot were in the order named* Statesman taking his fences in indifferent form. Isidore entered the straight with a strong lead, and won, pulling up, by a length from Launoelot, two lengths separating him from Bloodsucker. Time, Srnln Baec Totalisator, 137; dividend, -5J 8s 6d.

' Catamoiint and Breadalbane ran off Whett the flag fell, and Ahua, going to the front, was never headed, the verdict being a length iii his favor. Richlake- and Harkaway came with a rush in the 'straight, Richlake .finishing third two lengths. Wanderer fourth, Breadalbane disCanced. Time, 2min 44sec: Totalis sator, 336; dividend, £2 12s 6d.
