A ROMANCE IN REAL LIFE.
An Inquest was held recently at i*ulf, touching the death of" Miss Amy Cullea,] aged fihirty-three. Miss Cullea, who resided by herself, was, found dead in bed, havinft poisoned' - herself with] killer.** It- appeared thac' the deceased bad been engaged to' be i married to aelerit named John Astoa. Mr I Aston stated that he had known tbe de- , ceased for many years. He was engaged ■to be married to her, and that engage-, meet took place wiehin the last fortnight.. On Monday night he had requested her by letter tO> break off-the engagement. Ou Tuesday 'morning he received a letter from bar. It Was dated August 19th/and was aa follows:— >* " Dear Jack,—You have done right fn letting mOknow- tbe truth'iu time,- instead of leaving mc to find oat; when It? was too late. I think I can give you a •motive.' 'You could not marry one woman while loving another, bat no woman will ever love you as I did. Perhaps you hardly realised bow dear yon were to me* - You cannot gaage fciie depth or intensity of that love wbieh you thus carelessly ' fling-away as a thing not worth keeping. ;f*rids would forbid mc saying'this to you if I had not made up my mind not to live ; bufc what £ could not say living I can say dying, for oh, cay darling. I cannot live without yon. After tbe one glimpse oi{ heaven that yon have shown mc I dare not; face life with the prospect of never seeing yott agai_» By the time yon have I •received this I shall bo no more, but; dont reproach yourself, near.. It was co be, and. you could not have acted otherwise than you did. Good-bye, jack, if there is a God, may He bless and keep you, my -arliair, and make you happy. Amy. I should like to think that you nave my piano. I have told Willie' that 1 wished you to have it, but perhaps you will only shrink from it ana hate 16 because it belonged to mc."
