The official report on the receat accident to the train at Bathorst attribute! the cause to the gudd«ii pulling up of the train, thus causing a recoil, aha the couplings to snap. The Kaglan station, near whioh the accident occurred, has been removed to a position where the grade is easier. The report urges that the automatic continuous brakes should be introduced.
