GRAIN AND PBOPUQB. The receipt of news by public cables during the week advising a slight imErovement io the European market has ardened local prices, and holders are asking an advance on last week's quotations. Buyers, however, do not at present see their way to extend their limits and transactions have fallen off somewhat. Oats are without animation, and growers are offering more freely, but without satisfactory response, notwithstanding the low figures at which they are willing to quit. Barley is without change, and there is no near prospect of a revival, maltsters seemingly having secured their season's requirements, while speculators are conspicuous by their absence. Grass seeds are in much the same position as they were at the date of our last report, ryer grass being, if anything, a little easier, while cocksfoot is a little better. Bine Derwents are now on Qifer but there Is some uncertainty as to real values, which stands in the way of trading, for the time being at any rate. There is but little enquiry for butter except for local requirements. Stocks, however, are low, and to-day's quotations are well maintained. The weather has again broken, and a few welcome showers have fallen. Cheeae Is about as dull as it can be. m The following are the quotations of the day :—• Tuscan 2_lodtoß-Ud Pearl 2*9dt9 2_l<ki Hvwtera .". -' - 2a 84 to 2a &d Chickwhfat .. .. 2s to2aSI Qate-Mimng .. .. l*7a Di:—Sto-l short feed ..
