HARVEST THANKSGIVING SER- ;,..-.., ..VICES. , The usual Harvest Thanksgiving Serj vices in connection with the Cathedral were held yesterday. A number of ladies expended a considerable amount of time and laoor in tastefully, decorating- the, I chancel of the Cathedral with trophies lof grain and wreaths df autumn leaves aad flowers. The railing round the reading desk, chancel rails, choir stalls, altar rails, and candelabra were wreathed with a combination of colored autumn I leaves, heads of .grain, and relieved .with, blooms of different seasonable flowers.! ___ebrassgaslights throughout the nave: [were decorated with grain, leaves .of | Phormium tenax and raupo. Altogether the effect was a very pretty one, and reflected credit upon the ladies' taste. There was a celebration of the Holy Communion at 8 a.m. and matins (plain) at 10.30 a. no. The evensong was choral. The, Rev. H, T. Purchas, of St. Matthew's/ preached the sermon, and there was a < fair attendance,' considering the inclement; state of the weather.
