THE PRIMACY.

THE MEETING- ? ©F GENERAL ALLEGED 6\f ASCHDEACON JXTLIUS'S l-LECTHON. [Bt _i__B-___t?__]

IVBOH OUK CO____SPO»tr_t_!-fT.I WELUNGTOIf, April 14, Bishop Suter was here to-day, and completed axra-Kement- to hold a special session of the Synod in Wellington on Wednesday week, 23rd inst. to elect the Primate, and confirm the election of Archdeacon Julius to the Christoburch see. A special meeting of the Diorasa_n Standing Committee was held this evening, to arrange for the reception and billeting of members. Bishop Suter had interviews with the Bishop of Wei* lington and the Chanoellor of thediooeae. The Siynod will open at 7.30 p.m., when notice of motion will, be given that the Synod proceed next to elect the Primate. The following day the Synod wiU probably meet in the afternoon, when the election will take place. Should it be deemed inadvisable to give notice on the opening day with reference to Archdeaooa. Julius, such notice will be given after the conclusion of the Primacy election, and iv that case, this business wdl be dealt with on Friday. It is desired, however, to complete the business, if{ possible, on Thursday, so that Northern members may return .home by through _rain on Priday, and Southern, members by that day's steamer.

Some doubts are entertained of the validity of the proceedings in the Christchurch Diocesan.Synod with regard to the election of Archdeacon Julius, and it is possible, that the General Synod may be asked to rectify, by special statute, this suspected irregularity.
