TIME BALL, LYTTELTON.
The time ball is dropped daily. Sundays and holidays excepted, at 1 o'clock p.m., New Zealand __etu_ time, which is equlva- ■ ient to 13J0 Greenwich mean time of the fire vious day, being calculated for tbe 7? -0* East Longitude, and llhr 30min ■- cast of Greenwich mean time.
The ball will be raised at about 2n___ to 1 p.m., and will be at the top about •■ Imintolp.m. When taking the time be careful to : aote the exact moment the ball leaves the top of the mast, Should the ball not drop at the proper , time, it will be kept ai the top for at least ; two minutes, and then lowered slowly.
